Every month the teams who run our four CarePoints in Namibia write to us about the children in their care. Here is what they told us about May 2025.
Keetmanshoop: a former child comes back to teach
A young man who grew up at the CarePoint is now a teacher at a local school. He and two colleagues have volunteered to help the CarePoint’s high-school students prepare for their exams.
Mount of Olives Church in the United States, which has supported Keetmanshoop for more than 20 years, is sending two teams in June and July, and the CarePoint has made both of its guest apartments ready. The children who registered this year are coming regularly, and their parents are happy with the programme.
Africa Day at every CarePoint
All four CarePoints marked Africa Day on 26 May. At Keetmanshoop the younger children danced and recited a poem. At Georgie Wilson the children sang the Namibian and African Union anthems, and teenagers presented a map of Africa and a poem, before the children shared what Africa means to them. At Oshikuku the caregivers explained what the day is for, and the children answered questions on it afterwards. At The Ark, four groups performed in their own languages, and the caregivers talked about every child’s right to life, education, healthcare and protection under Namibia’s constitution.
Oshikuku: a garden coming back
The staff cleared the weeds and are preparing beds for onions, tomatoes and spinach. Registration of new children is nearly finished.
“Finding children who are most in need of the programme has always been our joy.” (The Oshikuku team)

Georgie Wilson: a counsellor for the teenagers
A counsellor has begun coming in to talk with the children, especially the older ones, and the team says they are more open as a result. The caregivers are visiting the families of children who often miss days.
Please pray with us
- For the teams from Mount of Olives Church and their visits in June and July.
- For the children who often miss days, and their families.
- For the caregivers taking exams of their own in June.
Stand with these children
Sponsoring a child costs £40 a month. All of it goes to the child’s CarePoint, and it covers the full cost of their care: food, healthcare, schooling, and the care and teaching at the CarePoint.
