Every month the teams who run our four CarePoints in Namibia write to us about the children in their care. Here is what they told us about April 2025.
The Ark: a frightening month in Okahandja
April was a frightening month for families in Okahandja, after a crime in the town that shook the whole community. Many children were afraid to go to school, and parents walked their children to school and to the CarePoint and back. The caregivers kept the lessons going and gave the children extra care, and social workers visited the schools to support children and teachers. A team from Germany spent four days with the staff, training them in how to counsel children, and brought maths games. Student nurses came to teach the children about health and hygiene.
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17, shared by The Ark team)
Georgie Wilson: training in Montessori teaching
Visitors from Germany also spent a week at Georgie Wilson, training the caregivers in Montessori teaching and in helping children with their feelings. The children have afternoon classes at school, so they reach the CarePoint late, and the caregivers fit the lessons around them.

Keetmanshoop: five more children
Five more children were registered to start at Keetmanshoop in May, and attendance rose after a busy season of school sport. Many children are preparing for exams in May and June. A flat at the CarePoint has been renovated for the visiting teams coming in June and July.
Oshikuku: children helping each other
Attendance is very good. Some children now do their schoolwork without help, and help others who are struggling. The caregivers are preparing to visit the children’s schools, a birthday party is on the way, and after heavy rain the garden is being cleared for tomatoes, onions, aubergines, butternut squash and spinach.
Please pray with us
- For the children of Okahandja, for healing from fear.
- For the children who are unwell, and for the families of our staff.
- For good cooperation between the caregivers and the children’s teachers.
Stand with these children
Sponsoring a child costs £40 a month. All of it goes to the child’s CarePoint, and it covers the full cost of their care: food, healthcare, schooling, and the care and teaching at the CarePoint.
