Every month the teams who run our four CarePoints in Namibia write to us about the children in their care. Here is what they told us about June.
Keetmanshoop: 15 new children
Fifteen new children joined the Keetmanshoop CarePoint on 1 June. They come every day, and some are still getting used to the routines.
“God has entrusted us with the responsibility to reach more families with the Gospel and provide care and support within the community.” (The Keetmanshoop team)
It has also been a hard month. The children and staff have been grieving together, and the team has given them extra care, day by day. After a disappointing set of school results last term, the caregivers are working with parents and guardians on a better place and time to study at home.
The CarePoint’s van is back on the road taking children to and from the CarePoint, though spare parts are hard to find in Namibia. The team is thinking about replacing it with a van made locally. The team thanks Mount of Olives Church for its faithful support.
Georgie Wilson: home visits and the computer lab
The caregivers spent part of June visiting the children at home, which helps them understand each child’s family and what they need. In the computer lab the children learned about hard drives, USB sticks and computer viruses, and next term the lessons turn practical.
The Ark: learning from the local school
Two staff from The Ark spent a day at Nau-Aib Primary School watching how the teachers teach, and brought ideas back to the CarePoint. The school also gave reading materials for children who struggle to read. A local Debonairs Pizza shop gave eight bags of bread.

Oshikuku: sweet potatoes and a gift from parents
The Oshikuku garden gave a harvest of sweet potatoes, which the children enjoyed, and the team is now preparing the ground for the next planting. When the CarePoint meets with parents, the team explains that Christ’s Hope relies entirely on gifts. Two parents answered by bringing melons and 20 kg of mahangu, the local millet.

Please pray with us
- For comfort for the children, staff and families at Keetmanshoop.
- For the 15 new children and their families as they settle in.
- For the staff, for strength and good health as they care for the children each day.
Stand with these children
Sponsoring a child costs £40 a month. All of it goes to the child’s CarePoint, and it covers the full cost of their care: food, healthcare, schooling, and the care and teaching at the CarePoint.
