New school uniforms and Independence Day: news from Namibia, March 2026

Seedlings planted in the CarePoint garden

Every month the teams who run our four CarePoints in Namibia write to us about the children in their care. Here is what they told us about March.

Keetmanshoop: exams and a van back on the road

Children in Grades 10 and 11 were about to sit their exams, and the CarePoint arranged extra study sessions. Attendance improved after the caregivers phoned and visited families. Many children also play sport after school, from soccer and netball to boxing and chess. The van is back from the garage, which makes daily work much easier, and the electric fence has been repaired. Namib Mills gave 50 kg of maize meal and snacks, and a local teacher gave groceries.

Oshikuku: more children every month

More children are joining Oshikuku, and they come every day, even on the days set aside for prayer and fasting. The new alarm and electric fence keep the centre safe. The staff meet to prepare each lesson together.

“Let us not grow weary in caring for these little ones. It is a spiritual mandate that we must fulfil.” (The Oshikuku team, citing James 1:27)

Georgie Wilson: new uniforms and school bags

The children were thrilled to receive new school uniforms and school bags.

“We thank God for the sponsors and donors who make sure our children go to school with dignity.” (The Georgie Wilson team)

The team cleared the big garden and started planting, and the cook from Oshikuku came for two weeks to help in the kitchen.

The Ark: 36 years of independence

Namibia celebrated 36 years of independence on 21 March. The caregivers at The Ark explained to the children what happened in the colonial years and what independence cost, and talked about bravery, peace and unity.

“I love interacting with children and teaching them about both Biblical principles and practical life skills.” (Martin, caregiver at The Ark)

Please pray with us

  • For the older children sitting exams, that they do well.
  • For the children who juggle school, sport and the CarePoint, to keep a good balance.
  • For the staff, that they do not grow weary.

Stand with these children

Sponsoring a child costs £40 a month. All of it goes to the child’s CarePoint, and it covers the full cost of their care: food, healthcare, schooling, and the care and teaching at the CarePoint.
